Childbirth Education Training Tips, By Jillian Freeland, Gadsden, Alabama
Tip #1 - read this all the way to the end... I have a tiny gift waiting for you!

You have registered and you can’t wait to start working on your precertification work! Having been in your shoes, let me give you some tips to tackle your work bit by bit and have fun doing it!

When I signed up for Birth Boot Camp, I registered the day before the deadline, even though it was suggested that you give yourself 4-6 months to accomplish the precertification requirements. I knew I was in for a wild ride, but I was able to tackle all the work and I felt prepared for what was ahead of me. Since my training, they have streamlined the precertification work to make it easier to accomplish!

So, here are some of my tips to tackling your precertification work!

  1. Read over all the modules - get an idea of the big picture.
  2. Order your books or see if your local library has copies of them.
  3. Find out when and where the local breastfeeding support groups meet and schedule it on your calendar - You don’t want to miss the chance to attend!
Pro Tip - Call the leader of the group and make sure they are still gathering. Let them know you hope to attend so that you can refer students to their support group. (There is nothing worse than showing up to find out they canceled for some reason or another!)
  4. Get the bloodborne pathogens class out of the way. It won’t take long and it feels so good crossing it off the list!
  5. Start on your Community Resource List - this will be a great place to begin networking and informing other professionals about how you can work together to serve your community! (But don’t worry about the networking just yet, worry about getting their information)
  6. Print out a copy of the study guide and keep it handy while you read the books, watch the online classes, and documentaries!
  7.  Begin your Birth Boot Camp Online Classes! This was my FAVORITE part of training! It will fuel your passion and grow your excitement!
  8. Watch the documentaries; they are super easy to check of the list! If you have any other trainees near by, it is fun to get together and watch the documentary together and a great way to kick off study groups!
  9. Study Guide Tips -  Read all the questions first so you have an idea of the content. Answer the questions you know first! Keep the study guide handy while you read and watch the online classes!
  10. Last, but not least… the reading! Create a schedule and tackle the books chapter by chapter! Pro Tip - search audible for the books so you can listening while accomplishing other tasks. OR download them on kindle and use the phone feature ‘talk to text’!
The biggest tip of all... Are you ready for it?
Your Trainers want to help you! Talk to them, ask them about questions that are stumping you! Just call them to connect!
If you haven't signed up for Birth Boot Camp Instructor training and you are ready to take this exciting step follow this link to register!

Ok, so now for the gift! I have created a "suggested" study guide schedule! (Mind you, it is very much based off of my personal learning style- which you can learn more about here - but it could come in handy!) Click the link below to view and download the schedule!
